Why I’ll Continue to support “douche bag” clothing labels.

Mainly Affliction and Ed Hardy.
I actually love Affliction, they’re one of my top 3 favorite clothing labels. I’ve been a fan since I first saw their designs. I discovered them when I was looking for new clothing labels to wear. I didn’t want to wear what everyone was wearing so I could be at least a little unique. I started by looking at what clothing brands sponsor my favorite hardcore/metal bands, because I like supporting companies that support what I love. One that kept coming up was Affliction.

Roughly a little bit later I remember when they started showing up on pretty much all the UFC fighters, so I was like sweet. I remember the first designs they had out and I loved them and I still love the them to this day. I remember being able to buy a an Affliction shirt for like $30 and that was the normal price. Then douche bags bought into it, and everyone was wearing it and it kinda took the fun out of it and I kinda got turned off for a little bit but in the end I still love the shirts, so I’ll continue to wear them regardless of who supports them or if they’re the “IN” style or not or the fact that every clothing company out there pretty much has copied their style.
When I went to their website a while back they were playing Polar Bear Club! How f’n bad ass is that.

For those who don’t know who Polar Bear Club is, that’s exactly my point. Polar Bear Club is one of my top favorite bands out there right now and it’s not like they’re a huge band.  Then I visit an actual Affliction store on Melrose in LA and they were playing Rise Against and I could hear a tattoo machine in the background and I was like wait, do you guys do tattoos here too? And the guy was like no, the Manager is getting tattoo’d in the back, haha. I was like nice.
Oh and they sponsored a NASCAR car!

Now for Ed Hardy.

I do like Ed Hardy, I’m not huuuge on Ed Hardy but I do LOVE some of their stuff, not all of it. The main reason I’ll continue to support Ed Hardy is because its tattoos. I love the fact that they’re using tattoo art. If I didn’t love tattoos, I wouldn’t have gotten them right, lol. I wonder how many people that wear Ed Hardy actually know that Ed Hardy is an actual tattoo artist, and a legend at that. He went to the SF Art Institute and still has a tattoo shop today in San Francisco (Tattoo City) although he’s mostly retired. Have douche bags mostly ruined Ed Hardy for me, yes mostly, but I try not to let other people affect what I like and what I don’t, I try to imagine if I was the first one to see this, would I like it and I would, mostly.
Since I think the only people reading this, if any, would be people actually interested in fashion; I’m gonna take this opportunity to throw a “shout out” of sorts to my other two top favorites in my top 3 favorite clothing labels that aren’t necessarily main stream.

April O’Neal

I really wish I hadn’t dated an April and it f’d up the name April for me. I would have liked to name a possible future daughter April after April from The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles lol. I’m halfway serious.

I keep seeing LA

..on TV and I miss it. I think I’m 99% sure I want to move back, but this time under the right circumstances, like having a job to support myself. I keep seeing different spots I used to drive/walk/bike by on TV like when Entourage was at the Urth Caffe in West Hollywood. This time I was on funny or die and I was looking for the new Kenny Power K-Swiss Video

and I saw something about Jewel and pranking people at a karaoke bar so I clicked on it and I know exactly where the karaoke bar she does the prank at. I used to ride my bike right by it four days a week on my way home from college in Santa Monica. I almost went into it every time but then I didn’t. It’s on the to do list when I hopefully get back lol.

Fast like a NASCAR

There’s been a few things on my mind regarding this season that I’ve wanted to blog about.
First is Jamie McMurray! What a year for him. I’ve been a fan of Jamie since he was the replacement for Sterling Marlin and won the race in his 2nd start. Since then though, it’s been hard being a fan for him lol. He hasn’t done amazing, with only three wins total as of the beginning of this season. Then this season came and I feel he’s really finding groove now. 1st he won the Daytona 500.

Then he starts pulling off a few top tens and wins The Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Now, with two races left before the Chase, he’s only 100 points out from making it. It’s a possible for him to make it in the chase, basically Clint Bowyer needs to wreck and McMurray win a race and we’re good haha.
2nd is Aric Almirola.

I think he’s the most underrated driver in NASCAR. Had he had good rides, as in a ride for a full season with a good team in Cup, I think he would have done very well, but luck just hasn’t been on his side. Now to see him in trucks with a good team, riding full time I think people are beginning to finally see how good he is. He’s 2nd in points with 2 wins and 12 top tens. I think I’ve made my point. He was asked to be the stand in for Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, legends in NASCAR, when they were having babies this season. Its good to see that Dale Jr. has hired him for his team next year in the Nationwide Series for a full season. I think he’s finally gonna be able to show his talents on a bigger scale. He’s my dark horse on any fantasy league I join.
and last and most importantly, my favorite driver Carl Edwards.

The season started off very rough, and that goes for all of Roush Fenway Racing, not just Edwards. Things have changed in the last month or two though, he’s had a string 6 top tens in the last 7 races and he’s 4th in points. I think if he can keep the momentum going, he’s definitely going to win at least one race and hopefully win the Sprint Cup Championship.
Do I feel like he’s undeserving to win the Championship with Harvick and Hamlin and others doing so well all season? Heck no! I remember the Chase in 2008 where it was him and Kyle Busch fighting for first in points pretty much all season, followed by the Chase and then it turned into him and Jimmie Johnson battling for first til the last few races where Edwards slipped a tad bit dropped to 4th in points by the end of the season. He was docked some points for stupid things that year and I still think that was his Championship year, he was consistent all season in the top two spots, so in a way, I feel the Sprint Cup owes him one :-)

Big Brother 12

So Big Brother is a little guilty pleasure of mine and there’s two things that keep running through my head this season.
First is Brendon is a huge tool. I have nothing against him other than being such a huge tool. If he gets evicted this or next week, I’d say Rachel was his downfall and he deserves it.

Rachel is such a bitch.

And I really try to be like Clark Kents dad and look for the best in people but she’s making it hard for me. I don’t hate her, it’s just she’s extremely annoying, not as annoying as past houseguest but definitely up there. If I was Brendon there’s no way I’d put up with her much less be in love with her.
and Second, Britney is smoking hot :-)
 
but personality wise, its a mix, kind of a plynus. She’s super fake but it is BB so who knows what she’s like in real life.

Not gonna lie…

I’m excited about two things.
1. Step Up 3D comes out tomorrow

and 2. The future MJ Cirque show, both touring and vegas shows.

FINALES

I wasn’t sure what to think of the LOST series finale. I know a lot of people didn’t like it but I think I did. I’m just a little confused on a few things and I’m really looking forward to when Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof start doing interviews and answering a few unanswered questions. I think I enjoyed the finale, it wasn’t the best finale ever but I still think LOST is possibly the greatest show ever. They took me on quite the adventure of wtf is going on and what’s gonna happen next, the whole show, from beginning to end. I’m satisfied. When the series box set comes out in August, I want to buy it and re-watch the whole show and make my final decision then.


24 finally ended and well, nothing really special happened. It ended like a normal season. I hear there’s a movie in the works and I’m guessing that’s why they ended it like that. I posted that Smallville should also be cancelled and I got my way lol, only Heroes got cancelled with it. Now I feel obligated to catch up on Smallville and watch the last season next season and watch the last season or two of Heroes to see how it ended.
