I started writing this at the beginning of last year and I’m glad I didn’t finish because now I’ve watched a whole season with the new points system NASCAR has implemented and I loved it. I love the new point system. It’s waaay easier to calculate the points. During the race I know if a driver is 15 points behind the leader in the standings, all he needs to do is be 15 spots ahead of the leader to pass him in the standings. I also love that wins matter. I’d still add one more point for winning as a little extra emphasis on lets not points race, lets race race. Also, the two extra spots out of the top ten going into the Chase going to whoever has the most amount of wins is very cool. Speaking of last season… Carl Edwards came SO CLOSE to finally winning a championship.. again. You couldn’t come any closer, tying Tony Stewart in the points but losing because Tony had more wins as a tie breaker, so its hard to be upset that Carl lost because Tony deserved it but ARGG still soo close!
